You'll be part of the team building intelligent, high-performance systems handling billions of daily interactions, household-level data intelligence, and modern martech systems — all built on top of a deeply integrated data and execution layer.

We're looking for a Founding Backend Engineer to design and build core platform systems from scratch. This role is for engineers who think in terms of systems and architecture, not just features.

What You'll Do

• Design and build scalable backend systems using Node.js (TypeScript), Express/NestJS, and MongoDB
• Architect platform primitives that support multiple products across communication, data, and martech layers
• Build distributed systems with queues, workers, and real-time processing
• Work on high-throughput communication infrastructure including email delivery, routing, and sending systems
• Build and maintain email validation pipelines — syntax checks, DNS/MX resolution, mailbox verification, disposable domain detection, and deliverability scoring
• Design and operate email warmup infrastructure — IP and domain warming strategies, reputation management, sending volume ramp-ups, and feedback loop handling
• Implement and manage email authentication systems — SPF, DKIM, DMARC, BIMI — across multiple sending domains and IPs
• Build systems for sender reputation monitoring, bounce and complaint rate tracking, blocklist detection, and inbox placement analysis
• Develop infrastructure for dedicated IP pool management, ISP throttling logic, and adaptive sending rate control
• Build household-level data intelligence systems and identity resolution layers
• Develop event-driven systems for campaign orchestration, tracking, and enrichment
• Design robust data pipelines to process large-scale logs, behavioral signals, and datasets
• Build clean, extensible APIs powering targeting, analytics, and execution systems
• Optimize systems for performance, scalability, and reliability
• Set up and manage infrastructure on AWS/GCP
• Own CI/CD, deployments, monitoring, and observability
• Take end-to-end ownership from system design to production

Requirements

• 1–5 years of backend engineering experience
• Strong expertise in Node.js (TypeScript preferred)
• Experience building scalable, complex systems from scratch
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architecture
• Experience with MongoDB or similar databases and data modeling
• Hands-on experience with AWS/GCP and backend deployment workflows
• Familiarity with queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, BullMQ, or similar)
• Working knowledge of email protocols — SMTP, IMAP, and the broader email delivery ecosystem
• Understanding of email authentication standards — SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and deliverability fundamentals
• Strong system design, debugging, and performance optimization skills
• Ability to think in terms of platforms and long-term architecture
• Based in Bangalore or willing to relocate

Nice to Have

• Hands-on experience building email validation systems — real-time or bulk verification pipelines, catch-all detection, role-based filtering, and typo correction
• Experience designing or operating email warmup systems — automated warmup schedules, engagement simulation, reply rate management, and reputation ramp strategies
• Familiarity with inbox placement testing, seed list monitoring, and spam filter analysis
• Experience with dedicated and shared IP warm-up workflows, ISP-specific sending rules, and feedback loop integrations (FBL)
• Knowledge of blocklist monitoring and remediation — major RBLs, delisting workflows, and proactive reputation defense
• Experience in martech, data platforms, or growth infrastructure
• Understanding of identity resolution, segmentation, or targeting systems
• Experience with other communication channels — SMS, WhatsApp, RCS, push notifications
• DevOps experience — Docker, Kubernetes, Infrastructure as Code
• Experience in startup or zero-to-one environments
