About the Role
Lead the migration of production services from Amazon ECS (distributed, team-owned AWS accounts) to Amazon EKSon a centralized, product-centric AWS account managed by the Organization Platform team.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute phased migration of Java and Node.js microservices from ECS to EKS with zero-downtime cutovers
- Convert ECS task definitions into Kubernetes manifests (Deployments, Services, HPAs, ConfigMaps, Secrets, KEDA) and Helm charts
- Onboard services into the centralized AWS account — IRSA, cross-account resource access (STS AssumeRole)
- Migrate or re-provision dependent AWS resources: RDS PostgreSQL, Cassandra, S3, DynamoDB, MSK, Kinesis etc
- Refactor Jenkins and Harness CI/CD pipelines for EKS deployments with container image builds, Helm packaging, and automated rollouts
- Manage source code and branching workflows in Bitbucket
- Setup monitoring, alerting, and dashboarding across all migrated services using Prometheus and Grafana
- Ensure health checks, structured logging, service capacity are preserved post-migration
- Implement Kubernetes RBAC, network policies, and pod security standards per organizational security and compliance requirements

Must Have
- 5+ years hands-on experience with AWS cloud services
- Strong Kubernetes and Amazon EKS knowledge — pods, deployments, services, ingress, namespaces, RBAC, HPAs, secrets management, EKS Jobs, KEDA, Karpenter
- Experience with Jenkins and Harness for CI/CD pipeline design and maintenance
- Proficiency with Bitbucket Git workflows
- ETL orchestration tool like Apache Airflow.
- Working knowledge of AWS data services: RDS PostgreSQL, Cassandra, S3, DynamoDB, IAM roles/policies, MSK
- Experience with Docker containerization and image optimization
- Hands-on experience setting up Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring and alerting
- Understanding of IAM, cross-account roles, and AWS networking (VPCs, security groups, Transit Gateway)
- Infrastructure-as-Code experience (Terraform, Helm)
